What the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Means for the Future of Mental Health Care

The Personal Protection and Cost-effective Appropriate care and attention Act was passed in March of recently, and is intended to boost all aspects of our country's health and fitness and wellness alternatives. One aspect that will be much-improved is the area of Mental Health care.

Insufficient coverage and a lack of programs that educate people on emotional illness have plagued the United States for quite some time. With the passage of the new law, a number of new conditions aim to modify the public's perception of emotional illnesses and provide programs and other tasks to help those who need emotional health care. A few of those conditions include:

    Improvements to Medicaid (including the expansion of eligibility) that will allow more people experience the benefits of emotional health and fitness and wellness services

Essentially, what this means is that, over time, those with emotional illnesses will connect to health and fitness and wellness insurance policy plan policy that covers emotional illness and substance abuse alternatives, providing those with unprecedented help and cooperation from the federal govt. It specifies that starting in 2014, organizations can provide bigger incentives for staff's positive lifestyle practices or participation in health and fitness and wellness promotion programs. The PPACA also creates a grant program to assist businesses to provide extensive workplace health and fitness and wellness programs. The grants will be provided beginning in 2011 with $200 million appropriated for a five-year period.
